After many years Grainne's heart began to yearn for her father, for she had had no sight of him from the day they left Tara. She also thought it a poor thing that, rich and settled as they were, they had never welcomed to their house Finn Mac Cool, for Cormac and Finn together were the two best men in all Ireland.
'What are you saying, Grainne?' replied Diarmuid. 'Would you give me to my enemies?'
'What is done is forgotten,' said she, 'and a good feast soothes memories and is a way to the heart.'
So for a full year they were preparing for the visit and the feasting. Then Cormac came, and Finn with the seven battalions of the Fianna, and they all stayed in Rath Grainne for another year of good fellowship.
